Questions we get at the front desk.

How often should I get a massage?2026-09-24T22:57:24-04:00

How often you should come in depends on how you’re feeling and what you’re trying to accomplish. For general wellness and maintenance, once a month is a great goal. If you’re dealing with ongoing tightness, pain, or a specific problem, your therapist may recommend coming in every 2–3 weeks at first.

A simple guide:

  • Pain level 0–3: About once a month
  • Pain level 3–6: About every 3 weeks
  • Pain level 6–8: About every 2 weeks

As you start feeling better, you can usually space your appointments farther apart. Your therapist can help recommend a schedule based on how your body responds.

Is it normal to be sore?2026-09-24T22:52:09-04:00

Yes, especially after deep tissue or trigger point work. It usually feels like the day after a workout and passes within a day or two. Water, heat, and gentle movement help. Sharp or lasting pain is not normal, so call us.

Can I request the same therapist?2026-09-24T22:53:40-04:00

Yes, absolutely. If you find a therapist you really connect with, you’re always welcome to request them.

That said, every therapist at Body Ache Escape brings a slightly different style, pressure, and approach. Think of them a little like snowflakes. No two are exactly alike, but they’re all carefully chosen to be excellent at what they do.

So if your usual therapist isn’t available, don’t be afraid to try someone new. You may discover another therapist you love just as much.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?2026-09-24T22:54:38-04:00

Often, yes, for eligible services. Bring your card and ask the front desk for a receipt with the service detail on it.

What should I do differently next time?2026-09-24T22:55:27-04:00

Come ten minutes early, skip the big meal beforehand, and tell your therapist where it hurts before you get on the table rather than after.

Why can’t I think straight after a massage?2026-09-24T22:56:58-04:00

That “massage brain” feeling is pretty common. After a massage, your body often shifts into a deeply relaxed state, your nervous system slows down, and you may feel a little sleepy, spacey, or less mentally sharp for a short time.

It’s basically your body saying, “We’re not in go-mode anymore.”

Give yourself a few minutes, drink some water, move slowly when you stand up, and let your body ease back into the rest of your day. Most people feel back to normal pretty quickly.
