Why Do My Feet Hurt?

Neuropathy

Neuropathy is a condition where the feet hurt due to nerve damage. There are several causes of neuropathy but the two most common are diabetes and chemotherapy.

For nerves to function properly they must continuously receive oxygen and nutrients. Blood glucose spikes in diabetes and chemotherapy agents both reduce the ability for nerves to use oxygen.

Some of the signs of neuropathy are numbness, tingling, clumsiness, deep muscle aches, spasms, loss of strength and pain with sensations that would not normally cause pain like sheets laying on your feet.

Massage can drastically improve poor blood circulation, which is the main cause of neuropathy, with frequent sessions. Weekly 60 minute sessions are recommended with 15 minute daily self care massage between sessions.
